Cyberpunk 2077 won't start on Windows 11

Cyberpunk 2077 Failed to Start on Windows 11. Easy Fix here!

Players are experiencing the “Game won’t launch” and “Failed to start” issue with Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is undoubtedly the biggest release of 2020 and you can easily tell by looking at the reviews from the community and the reviewers. The whole world is talking about this game.

But not everything is perfect at the moment. A lot of posts have started popping up on the cdprojektred forums. And most of these posts are about the bugs and errors that players are experiencing in the game at the moment. It looks like a lot of players are having difficulties at getting Cyberpunk to launch or start. For some, it could be because of the low powered hardware in their systems. But even people with really high end gaming rigs are facing this issue. So this problem has nothing to do with PC hardware.

Here is a workaround to fix this problem on your Windows 11 system, this is a temporary method to start the game until they fix this problem!.,,,,

Run the cyberpunk2077.exe directly as administrator

Avoid Steam for once or any game launcher for now and try to run the executable file or .exe file of Cyberpunk 2077 (cyberpunk2077.exe) as admin, directly from the installation directory.

Here is how to do it:

  1. Go to the Installation folder of Cyberpunk 2077
  2. Copy and paste the cyberpunk2077.exe on your desktop
  3. Right Click on cyberpunk2077.exe
  4. Run this program as an administrator

I would bet a big $5.00 that this is caused by VBS Virtualization-based Security included in Windows 11, by running Cyberpunk in admin mode it will bypass this!

Et voilà!

Enjoy your game

What is VBS>Hypervisor Code Integrity (HVCI)-compatible drivers>?

Virtualization-based security, or VBS, uses hardware virtualization features to create and isolate a secure region of memory from the normal operating system. Windows can use this “virtual secure mode” to host a number of security solutions, providing them with greatly increased protection from vulnerabilities in the operating system, and preventing the use of malicious exploits which attempt to defeat protections.
